All Hope Is Lost – at least when it comes to this movie.
Story
Aliens land on Earth and wreak havoc in the countryside – really, nothing else to say.
Acting
Fun performances, but nobody really stood out.
Effects
CGI everywhere, but I already knew that before I even sat down in the theatre. Why do the aliens have human faces?
Sound
The sound and music were often way too dramatic, especially compared to what was actually happening on screen.
Conclusion
The first hour was great. The tension was built up nicely, and the creature design was great. But then the story took a turn, more creatures emerged, and the movie became far too chaotic and eventually really boring. Way too long, in my opinion.
And may I ask why they screened this movie in Cannes?
