Story
A young survivor and his dog try to make contact with other survivors in a vast, brutal, but beautiful post-apocalyptic world.
Acting
Solid performances by Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Josh Brolin (Sicario), Margaret Qualley (The Substance) and Guy Pearce (Memento).
Effects
Beautiful aerial landscapes and surprisingly little CGI. The natural scenery really adds to the atmosphere of the movie.
Conclusion
I have to admit, I had read quite a few negative reviews before watching it, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I liked every minute of this movie.
Maybe that’s partly because I really like post-apocalyptic stories and settings, but the combination of nature, wildlife and action/adventure is something I can’t get enough of. And with plenty of action, some unexpected turns and a few twists, this movie never felt boring to me.
Definitely a much more enjoyable experience than I expected. The movie kind of reminded me of the beloved video game “Days Gone” with an airplane instead of a motorbike ;).
